    Removing the Washer Tank

    • 1). Remove the negative cable from the battery, then the positive cable using a combination wrench. Remove the bolts securing the diagonal brace above the battery with a ratchet and socket, and remove the brace.

    • 2). Remove the bolt on the battery retainer --- the plastic wedge-like object at the base of the battery. Pull the battery from the Tahoe.

    • 3). Remove the two bolts holding the battery tray to its mount with a ratchet and socket. Remove the bolt securing the battery tray to the inner fender panel with a ratchet and socket. Remove the final two bolts securing the battery tray to the wheel well with a ratchet and socket, and pull the tray from the Tahoe.

    • 4). Pry up on the center of the plastic retainers holding the wheelhouse panel --- the plastic panel above the front wheel --- to the fender and the front bumper cover with a flathead screwdriver. Pull the plastic retainers from the wheelhouse cover and remove the wheelhouse panel from the Tahoe.

    • 5). Unplug the two wiring harnesses plugging into the side of the washer reservoir by pulling up on the locking tab and pulling the harnesses from the washer reservoir. One harness is for the washer pump, the other is for the fluid level sensor.

    • 6). Pull the 1/4-inch rubber hose from the washer pump.

    • 7). Remove the three bolts --- one upper and two lower --- from the washer reservoir with a ratchet and socket. Pull the reservoir from the Tahoe.

    • 8). Remove the washer pump from the washer reservoir by loosening the nut at the base of the pump with a combination wrench.

    Installing the Washer Tank

    • 1). Insert the suction tube of the washer pump into the hole on the bottom of the washer reservoir. Tighten the nut with a combination wrench.

    • 2). Sit the washer reservoir in the Tahoe, and tighten the three bolts to 6 to 7 foot-pounds with a torque wrench and socket.

    • 3). Plug the wiring harnesses into the washer fluid level sensor, included with the new washer reservoir and the washer pump.

    • 4). Reconnect the rubber hose to the washer pump.

    • 5). Reinstall the wheelhouse panel on the Tahoe. Insert the plastic retaining pins that hold the panel to the fender and the bumper, and press in the center of the retainers to lock them in place.

    • 6). Sit the battery tray back in the Tahoe. Tighten the battery tray bolts to 6 to 7 foot-pounds with a torque wrench and a socket.

    • 7). Place the battery on the tray, and sit the battery retainer at the base of the battery. Tighten the battery retainer bolt to 18 foot-pounds with a torque wrench and socket.

    • 8). Sit the diagonal brace in place above the battery and tighten its bolts to 6 to 7 foot-pounds with a torque wrench and socket. Connect the positive battery cable to the battery and tighten it to 13 foot-pounds with a torque wrench and a socket. Reinstall the negative battery cable on the battery and tighten it to 13 foot-pounds with a torque wrench and socket.

    • 9). Fill the washer reservoir with windshield washer fluid.
