Attaching Moulding Onto Cabinet Doors
- 1). Remove the cabinet door from its hinges using your screwdriver. Set it on a workbench.
- 2). Take a measurement of the top horizontal side of the door. Transfer the measurement to a piece of molding, with two marks along the upper edge of the molding and the measured length between them.
- 3). Set the molding on a miter saw, face up, with one of the two marks lined up with the blade. Swivel the blade 45 degrees in toward the main span of the molding. Cut it.
- 4). Slide the molding to put the second mark in front of the blade. Swivel the blade 45 degrees to the other direction, so it's again pointing at the main span of the piece. Cut it.
- 5). Cover the back of the cut molding with wood glue in a thin layer over the whole surface. Press it onto the door so the top edge of the molding is along the upper edge of the door and the two miter cuts move down and in from the corners.
- 6). Measure and cut molding pieces for the other three sides of the door in the same manner. Glue them with the mitered edges butted to each other at the corners so they form a perimeter of trim around the door. Repeat for each door. Let the glue set for 12 hours. Reinstall the doors.
