Go to recovermyfiles.com and click the highlighted link that reads "Download and try Recover my Files software Free!" Let the installation process run. When the pop-up window appears, choose the types of files you are trying to recover, either files or a drive, and click "Next." Follow the wizard steps until your files are found.

Choose the help tab from the tool bar across the top of the screen and choose to activate the product. In order to save and keep the found files, you must purchase a username and activation key. As of 2010, standard program access is $69.95, and full-featured access is $299.90.

Go back to the Recover My Files website in a separate tab and choose purchase from the blue advertisement. Clear the program CD and the software update boxes if all you want to purchase are the access codes, and click "Add to cart." You will be redirected to the order form.

Enter all of your information into the order form, including a valid email address. Upon receipt of payment, your username and license key will be sent to your email inbox. In that email, you will also be given login information for the website in case you lose or forget your username or license key.

Check your email, copy and paste the username and license key into the "product activation box" in the second tab and click "Next." Your program is now registered, and can be used to recover your files.

Recover a lost username or license key by logging in to GetData.com. There you can find the records of your purchase, as well as the letter sent to you with your system use information. Write this information down and keep it somewhere where you have easy access to it.
