How to Wire a Guest Battery Switch

    • 1). Locate your engine battery and unplug the cable running from the battery to the engine.

    • 2). Remove the nuts over the positive terminals of both batteries you intend to connect to the switch.

    • 3). Turn your battery switch over and unscrew the nuts covering the three ports on the back of the switch.

    • 4). Connect one end of one of the wires that came with your switch to the positive port on one of the batteries. Replace the nut over the terminal.

    • 5). Connect the end of the same wire to the "1" port on the back of the switch. Replace the nut over the port. Now when the dial on the front of the switch is in the first position it will be using this battery.

    • 6). Run one end of the other switch wire to the positive terminal on the remaining battery and wrap it around the terminal. Replace the nut over the terminal.

    • 7). Run the end of the wire to the "2" port on the back of the switch and replace the nut. When the dial on the front of the switch is in the second position this will be the battery you are using.

    • 8). Run the engine cable to the remaining port on the back of the switch and replace the nut.
