Western Crafts for Teens
- Teens can use woodworking equipment to craft Western toys, such as miniature wagons, with working wheels. They may also enjoy making wall hangings and even a Western style rocking chair in woodwork class, under the correct supervision.
- Teens can use an old pair of jeans to make into Western style jeans by adding beads, trims and using transfers. They can design and create these jeans and use sewing machines to finish their product. They can use this method to make and decorate other clothing items including jackets, coats and even boots.
- Teens can use sewing machines to make their own Western head wear. An easy craft for teens is making their own western bandannas. Teens can design their own bandannas using white material cut into triangles and add colors, beads, badges and even their names. They can also decorate a cowboy hat using decorative trims, beads, rhinestones and ribbons for a custom hat.
- Teens can create their own Western style jewelry using wooden beads and leather thong. The children can thread the beads onto the leather to make necklaces and bracelets, then tie them or add a clasp so the jewelry can be worn.
- Decorative items such as picture frames, door hangers and even dream catchers can be crafted by teens. For dream catchers, use a metal or wooden ring or make metal wire into a ring; use glue to wrap the ring in ribbon or lacing. Then tie string in knots through the middle, and add beads as required. Add lacing round the bottom to make tassels.
