She Works Hard For the Money

Now more than ever women are working hard for the money.
Definitely makes me want to chant the song by Donna Summer.
But what amazes me is how often I hear ladies talking about earning a million dollars.
Now don't get me wrong that's a fantastic goal but I often wonder how many make time to look & feel like a million dollars.
So if you've ever used the excuse I don't have the time to primp in the morning but you would like to look good during your work day.
First things first.
Give your routine the same attention you would if you were going out to dinner with your favorite guy but not the same amount of time.
Cut your get ready time down to minutes.
If you are ready to say good-bye to looking like you rolled out of bed here are some great tips.
Hair: Wash your hair the night before with a moisturizing shampoo/condition.
Dry with minimum heat.
Brush your hair back in a ponytail when you go to sleep so when you wake up it's manageable.
Your hair do should be simple but keeping your hair healthy should be more important.
You can add your favorite gel, pomade or hair spray to style.
Please avoid overloading on products to maintain a soft natural style.
Go for a hair cut that's easy to style so you can wash & go without the need for curling/flat irons.
This is the reason some women opt for short hair.
I'm not saying you can't have long hair but it can take twice the time to style.
Skin Care: With long hours at work I recommend using vitamin C enriched skin care products.
There are several skin care lines from your local drug store or department store that have rendered great results.
The skin is the largest organ in the body & is our first line of defense against the environment.
What we apply to our skin is absorbed into our bloodstream in less than 30 seconds.
The skin needs to be cared for # 1 for health & #2 for vanity.
Wash your face thoroughly every night & moisturize before you go to bed.
You should wash again in the AM or when you get ready to go to work.
A gel based cleanser is my preference for optimal results.
Tone, Tone, Tone & follow with a moisturizer with at least an SPF of 8.
With Skin Cancer on the rise it's preventative maintenance.
Always use an eye cream for puffiness & dark circles to keep the area around your eye youthful.
An eye cream with SPF is even better.
A lip balm with sun protection is important & I suggest carrying one with you so you can reapply throughout the day.
To maintain a luminous complexion use a face scrub once a week to exfoliate & a vitamin enriched mask to keep the skin firm & vibrant.
Topical skin products can improve the appearance of the outermost layer of skin AKA epidermis.
The dermis, the deeper layer containing blood vessels & connective tissue is responsible for its resiliency.
Because you are what you eat a balanced diet with nutrient dense foods is imperative.
The better the food you put inside.
The better you look outside.
When your cells are thirsty, you can look tired & unhealthy.
Drinking plenty of water keeps your skin looking plump & fresh.
A, B, C, D & E vitamins are essential every day.
Anti-Oxidants are the fountain of youth.
The goal should be to consume 5-9 servings of fruits & veggies a day.
You will look better & more important you will feel better.
It's great cellular protection.
No matter how hectic or fast paced your lifestyle you deserve to take some time to take care of yourself.
Make Up: Less is more definitely for every career woman.
Use a tinted moisturizer that's SPF 20 or greater.
A tinted moisturizer alleviates your need for both a liquid foundation & additional moisturizer.
A light powder that you may wish to reapply during the day is optional.
If you have oily skin you can use oil-absorbing make up/blotting paper instead? For the eyes a neutral shadow & mascara.
Try a waterproof variety that stays on until you take it off.
Be sure to take it off & not go to sleep with mascara to prevent build up, which can cause eyelashes to break.
For best results choose a moisturizing eye makeup remover.
A Blush in a more conservative color is optional.
Go for a tinted lip balm instead of a heavy lipstick.
This is all you need for a polished yet professional look.
