Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Skincare Expert Tracy O'Connor and today, I'm going to show you how to reduce shine. So, nobody likes oily, shiny skin; but, oil in our skin is very beneficial and it helps to prevent the visible signs of aging. However, what we do want to do is create balance in our skin and we want to prevent the overproduction of oil. And we also want to clear away the oil or the sebum that is trapped inside the pore. On Kristine, we're going to use the Normaderm Triple Action Anti-Acne Hydrating Lotion by Vichy. It's oil-free and it's going to deliver the hydration that Kristine needs but it's not going to deliver oil. And you're going to want to apply the moisturizer morning and night; you just need a little under a dime size amount. And this is a great formulation because it has salicylic acid combined with glycolic acid. Though it's proven that the combination and formulation with salicylic with glycolic acid incredibly effective in de-congesting the pore and smoothing the surface of the skin. When we have oily skin, our pores get trapped with oil and that oil is then food for bacteria inside the pore and that is what causes acne and breakout. But, when you have oily skin, not only do you want to reduce shine, but you also want to reduce the sebum production or the oil production to prevent the formation of blackheads and whiteheads and other forms of acne. Salicylic acid by reducing the buildup of sebum in the pores will contribute to a more mattifying texture of the skin. The formulation will help to normalize oil production so that you're producing just the right amount of oil and no more than you need. And another bonus, when you're looking to mattify the skin, look for ingredients like silica and perlite; this product has those ingredients so you'll notice an instant mattifying effect. Whenever choosing a moisturizer for oily skin, definitely choose one that's oil-free and also, choose one that's readily absorbed into the skin like this but leaves your skin with a matte finish and not a sticky or tacky residue. So, there you go, that's how to reduce shine. I'm Tracy O'Connor, thanks for watching.
