How to Change a Headlight in a 2004 Dodge Stratus
- 1). Remove the battery. You may not have to do this, but there's not a lot of hand room around the bulb entry point for the Dodge Stratus. If the bulb you're replacing is on the battery side of the car, you'll want to remove the battery first. To do this, simply loosen the connectors on the battery with a 1/2-inch socket and pry up the connector using a flathead screwdriver.
- 2). Unscrew the bulb retaining ring by the base of the bulb connector, where it attaches to the light assembly. Turn the ring counter-clockwise to loosen it.
- 3). Remove the holder assembly from the light assembly.
- 4). Detach the bulb from the holder assembly by holding the bulb at the base and pulling it up out of the holder.
- 5). Inspect the holder assembly for any corrosion. If you find that the holder isn't clean, spray it with some electrical spray cleaner.
- 6). Insert the new bulb into the holder assembly.
- 7). Reinsert the holder assembly into the light assembly.
- 8). Tighten the retaining ring.
- 9). Return the battery to its original position, if necessary.
