In an ever-growing sea of foldable and rollable flats, it would be easy to assume that they're all the same, but fans of Yosi Samra fold-up flats would be the first to tell you that they're not. Of course, when it comes to shoes, I prefer to judge these things myself, so even though it wasn't my first experience with the brand, I recently reviewed a pair of patent Yosi Samra ballerina flats.

My Thoughts on Yosi Samra

First, let me tell you a bit about my first experience with Yosi Samra. I bought a pair of their zebra ballet flats a couple of years ago, and liked them well enough that I mentioned them several times on this site, and I still wear them often today. At the time I paid just under $60 for them, so they were a pretty good deal, but they certainly weren't "cheap," in price, looks, or wearability -- which was actually quite surprising because they nearly felt (and sounded) like paper, so I thought they wouldn't hold up well. Two years on, I can say I was totally wrong about that; they still look like new.

My Review of Yosi Samra Flats for Women

Now on to the review pair. When I contacted the people at Yosi Samra, I wanted to review a pair of their suede flats, because I generally prefer softer materials for unstructured flats such as these. I believe they've exhausted their supply of suede styles, because I was sent a patent version instead, and, sadly, the suede styles are no longer listed on their site.

The shoes looked great. Beyond great, in fact, they're some of the cutest flats I've seen. But, that's no surprise; I think one of the things that makes Yosi Samra shoes so popular is the way they look. Unlike a lot of foldable or roll-up flats, there is a lot of variety in the Yosi Samra collection; you can choose from metallic; patent; matte leather; crackled; reptile-embossed; cap-toed; houndstooth; tweed, floral prints; animal prints; tumbled; ostrich; and more. And within each of those sub-categories awaits some of the prettiest colors you can imagine. They're all just so inviting.

Another thing that's really nice about Yosi Samra shoes is the soles. They're true flats; there is no heel height, whatsoever, but they aren't flimsy like a lot of foldable shoes -- they have actual, sturdy soles that are split in half. I wear them as I would any other shoes, without worrying about stepping on stones, or whatever else might be on the sidewalk, as I have with similar styles.

The only negative I found with the Yosi Samra's I reviewed was the size. I reviewed a size 9, because that's the size I always request for shoe reviews, and because 95% of them time I fall between an 8.5 and a 9, so I err on the side of caution by requesting the larger size. In this case, I also had the benefit of already owning a pair of Yosi Samra shoes in size 9 that fit perfectly. Unfortunately though, this pair happened to be a bit tight. This could be due to the fact that the patent finish didn't have as much "give" as my original pair; it could just be a one-off oddity; or they could just be one of those brands that runs small or is inconsistent in their sizing.

They weren't so tight that I couldn't wear them. I did wear them quite a lot, and, as expected, they loosened up a bit over time. Unfortunately, given how streamlined shoes like this are; when I was first wearing them, you could actually see the side "bulge" of my big toes beneath the shoes -- which really isn't a pretty look. And, of course, a perfect fit is always ideal.

Now, this certainly wouldn't steer me off of buying Yosi Samra shoes in the future. In fact, given all the things I love about the brand, I can state with a great amount of certainty that I will definitely buy more down the road. But, I will buy a size ten in the future; and I wanted you to be aware of my sizing experience so that you would either: A) try them on before buying; B) buy from a site with free and easy returns; or C) considering sizing up between 1/2 to one full size.

All in all, Yosi Samra are cute, stylish, and classically-styles shoes that won't set you back a fortune, but will add invaluable style to your casual wardrobe.

Yosi Samra ballet flats are priced between $65-$90 per pair for adult sizes (whole U.S. women's sizes 5-11), and $40-$50 for kids' sizes (toddler and youth).
