How to Make Knitted Bangle Bracelets

    • 1). Measure the distance around the side of the bangle. Record this measurement as the needed width of the knitted swatch.

    • 2). Determine the bangle's circumference. Record this measurement as the needed length of the swatch.

    • 3). Place the yarn on your left and loop the free end from left to right into a loose circle.

    • 4). Bring the loose end behind the circle so that it crosses through the middle and sticks out on the right side.

    • 5). Insert your needle over the strands that form the circle and under the tail that crosses through the middle. Pull the end of the yarn to tighten the loop around the needle.

    • 6). Hold the needle in your left hand and insert the second needle through the loop and behind the left needle.

    • 7). Transfer both needles to your left hand, then find the strand of yarn that is still attached to the ball -- not the free end, or tail.

    • 8). Wrap the strand from left to right over the top of the back needle.

    • 9). Pull the loop on the back needle through the center of the loop on the top needle, holding the loose strand taut with your fingers.

    • 10

Transfer the loop from the right needle onto the left needle. The two loops on your left needle are the first cast-on stitches.

    • 11

Continue inserting the right needle behind the left needle, wrapping the yarn around it and pulling it through the previous loop to make more cast-on stitches until they form a row approximately as long as you want the knitted swatch.

    • 12

Insert the right needle through the top loop on the left needle so that the right needle is on the bottom. This is the same motion you used to cast on.

    • 13

Wrap the yarn from left to right around the right needle, then pull the resulting loop through the center of the loop on the left needle.

    • 14

Slip the stitch you just created, and the old loop that is now attached to it, off of the left needle and onto the right. This is your first knit stitch.

    • 15

Continue creating knit stitches until all the loops that were on the left needle are on the right.

    • 16

Place the full needle in your left hand and the empty needle in your right. Continue knitting until the fabric is as wide as your measurements dictate.

    • 17

Wrap the swatch around the bangle before you cast it off of the needles to make sure it is the right size.

    • 18

Knit two more stitches, then pick up the first stitch and pull it over the top of the second. Repeat this step until you have removed the swatch from the needle.

    • 19

Cut the yarn tail, leaving at least 2 feet with which to sew the seam.

    • 20

Wrap the swatch around the circumference of the bangle and sew the ends together.

    • 21

Wrap the sides of the swatch around the sides of the bangle so that they meet at the bottom. Sew the edges together.

    • 22

Cut the yarn, then weave the end into the fabric.

    • 23

Rearrange the fabric so that the seams are hidden inside the bracelet.
