3 Ways To Stay Motivated As an Entrepreneur When You’Re Feeling Down

Saying that entrepreneurship is a tough and lonely path is an irony. If you're a founder or an owner of a business, this could at times seem completely impossible. There are several €BIG NOs€, people mocking your thoughts and ideas, and not to mention the buckets of tears that you shed when you realize that 90% of first-time startups really fail. However, you shouldn't lose hope. There are many ways to motivate yourself all throughout this process.

Listed down are three important things that you can do in order to stay motivated to pursue a business whenever you encounter some setbacks:

1. Start a support group.

Look for a support group. This could include mentors, college friends, business partners, or others. It's nice to have someone to talk to and get real advice from, people who have the experience in the business. So instead of just stressing yourself out, find a support group. Meet with mentors and find like-minded individuals whom you can ask for advice and to whom you can also confide about the difficulties you face as an entrepreneur.

2. Choose a hobby you're not really good at.

People do equate entrepreneurship to perfection, however nothing that you do will ever be perfect. Choosing a hobby you're terrible at will help you stay motivated and perhaps do better at it and strive more to be disciplined in the area. It also helps you feel more comfortable being uncomfortable with no serious repercussions. This is a good starting ground for training yourself in handling matters that are important but, if given the choice, you'd rather not deal with.

3. Be positive in business and in life.

Always be positive not only in business, but in everything that you do. Also surround yourself with go-getters. Having a positive attitude, both in business and in life, is very important. Your attitude rubs off on your staff, your suppliers, your business partners, your investors, and your current and potential customers. If you maintain a positive attitude it will be infectious and people around you will pick up your positive energy.

So whether you're starting a business or you already have an established one, maintaining positivity is very important. With a positive approach, you'll feel more in control, be more confident and perform at your best. Having a negative approach will damage your confidence, harm your performance, paralyze your mental skills, and may also affect your health.

When you're struggling with worst days, make sure to take a deep breath and always remember that your failure or the situation that you are in is not a reflection of who you really are. Also bear in mind that you have taken on a lifestyle of accepting chances while someone else has declined that same challenge. This in itself is reason enough to go on with your business and what you believe is your life's purpose.
