Vocal Training - The 7 Secrets the Vocal Training Experts Don't Want You to Know!

101 9
You may be standing in a crowd of people, watching a singer belt out a rather catchy tune and you may be thinking to yourself, "Now, why can't I do that?" In reality, if you can carry a tune without going off-key or without missing a beat, you might just be able to with a little practice and training. A lot of vocal training experts may make you believe that in order for you to get a voice that can come somewhat close to the kind of voices some of your favorite performers possess, you will need to undergo rigorous and arduous training exercises and years of hard work to do so. That is not entirely true. What you will need is to simply condition your voice and yourself with some of the most basic training exercises in order for you to develop your singing voice and you might just soon be able to sing like your favorite pop artists.

There are a few things that vocal coaches will not teach you or tell you when you try to undergo vocal training and here are some of them:
  1. You can start training your voice at home. Training your voice for singing need not mean that you have to go to a music school to do so. You can actually start doing so at home with the help of the basic voice training tools that you can easily get online and with a little careful practice.
  2. Singing is actually a continuation of your speech. Singing can come naturally and your singing voice can improve dramatically if you try to sing as naturally as you try to speak. You should know that talking for long lengths of time without properly regulating your voice can result in your losing your voice – the same goes for singing. You need to know how to follow the natural laws of using your voice and when you do, singing will become easy.
  3. Do not force yourself to sing in an un-natural manner or tone of voice if you do not want to lose your voice altogether. Find your pitch and focus on developing your voice for that pitch.
  4. Even great singers are built the same way as you are. There is nothing different in how a lot of great singers are born. They do not have bigger lungs or better shaped vocal chords for them to sound awesome. What they have is the knowledge of how to use their voice the right way when singing and you can learn that too.
  5. Singing to extend vocal range is not so you can hit notes that you can't hit. It is to hit notes that you can actually hit but do not know that you can. Extending your vocal range is only to develop your voice to reach its natural potential, not to magically stretch your voice to reach notes that you actually cannot.
  6. Your breathing actually plays a big role in how well you can sing. Learning how to breathe properly for singing is half the battle won for you when it comes to training yourself to sing better.
  7. Vocal training does not need to take years and years. You can actually improve your vocal quality faster with regular practice. Doing your scales and your breathing exercises regularly can help you develop your voice better faster.
