- 1). Shampoo your hair with clarifying shampoo. Lather the shampoo by running your fingers through it. Rinse out the shampoo completely. Repeat the wash at least one more time. Depending on how much spray you put in your hair, you may have to use the clarifying shampoo three or four times.
- 2). Shampoo your hair with a moisturizing shampoo. Clarifying shampoo is a harsh cleaner because it strips your hair of its natural oils. Add some moisture back to your hair after clarifying to prevent dryness and breakage. Shampoo your hair twice with the moisturizing shampoo. Rinse the shampoo completely out and wring out all of the water. Towel dry the hair to remove more of the excess water.
- 3). Saturate your hair with the conditioner. Use a wide-tooth comb to evenly distribute the conditioner all over your head, from root to tip. Place the plastic cap on your head and sit under the hooded dryer for 15 to 20 minutes. Completely rinse out the conditioner with lukewarm water.
- 4). Moisturize and dry your hair. Style it as usual. Run your fingers through your hair to see if the sticky feeling is gone. If not, you didn't wash it enough times with the clarifying shampoo.
