- 1). Choose your style. There are several rock star styles that you can mimic. For example, there is punk rock, goth rock, glam rock or traditional rock styles to choose from. Look at your favorite celebrity's style both in magazines or online to gain an angle on the type of rock star style that matches your own taste and personality.
- 2). Create a virtual look. Visit the Polyvore website to create a simulated look (see Resource). Polyvore will allow you to create different looks to see which style is best before actually purchasing. Use this tool to mimic the type of rock star style that you have chosen.
- 3). Start with the basics. The most basic staples of a rock wardrobe are band shirts. Other items like skinny jeans and combat boots are great basics in a rock star wardrobe.
- 4). Choose classic pieces. Although rock star styles may involve out-of-the-box clothing themes, it is still important to choose timeless pieces. Instead of acid wash jeans, go for classic dark denim jeans that can be dressed up or down. Also, opt for other classic pieces like a structured jacket or blazer. Trends like acid washed jeans and wacky jackets will fade but timeless classics like basic jeans and structured jackets will always remain the staples of a rock star wardrobe.
- 5). Accessorize each outfit. Rock star style has less impact on clothing and more on accessories. Make a bold rock statement with large jewelry in both silver and gold tones, oversized aviator sunglasses and bold pumps or boots. Girls can make an even bolder rock star statement by utilizing an oversized bag or platform pumps in a bright color to give the entire look a punch of color. Guys can add impact to an outfit by adding a large studded belt.
