- 1). Soak a cotton ball in acetone and wipe down your fingernails to remove the nail polish and soften the acrylic. To make this process easier, press the cotton balls against your nails and wrap aluminum foil strips around your fingers to hold them in place for 30 minutes.
- 2). Scrape gently at your nails using the tip of an orange wood stick to remove any polish or acrylic. Start at the base of the nails and scrape horizontally across them.
- 3). Wash your hands thoroughly with soap after removing all of the acrylic and polish.
- 4). Moisturize your hands, particularly your nail beds and cuticles, as the acetone dries out your skin.
