During this period, you are actually using food as cigarette substitution and remember that Smoking has changes your metabolism so when you quit your metabolism slows terribly even if you continue to exercise you may not reduce weight instantly, therefore this will continue for some time.

You now want to eat everything that taste better which is making you to gain weight faster than you expected, and you are now concise in losing the weight gain, If you want to lose the weight, do so by lowering your caloric intake and increasing your activity.
In the process of controlling your weight, you will start be controlling your appetite, you can do this by trying the following.
Drink a glass of water before you eat.
If that does not fill you up then you are probably hungry.
If you do not think, you are hungry, but still want to eat try a toothpick, gum, suckers etc.
You may also try eating smaller more frequent meals, such as five small meals per day instead of two or three big ones.
Include uncooked fruits and vegetables in your food.
Take nothing but water in between the meals.
Chew each morsel for sometimes.
This improves digestion besides activating your brain telling you that you have had enough.
