How to Troubleshoot a Toshiba 41" TV
- 1). Check your cable connections; make sure that the red and white cables, which are the audio cables, are securely plugged into the same set of inputs. If the cables are securely connected to the inputs, there may be a programming issue.
- 2). Change the channel to see whether the problem was a station issue, or if it persists as an issue with the television.
- 3). Press "Enter" on the remote to see what sound setting the television is on. If the display shows that it is on the "SAP" setting, change it to "Stereo" by pressing the "Menu" button and using the arrow keys to get to the "Audio Setup." Press "Enter" and arrow down to "MTS" and use the right arrow to select "Stereo." If the problem persists, double-check the volume on the television.
- 4). Make sure the "Mute" button is not activated by pressing the "Volume" button. If the television is connected to a cable or satellite box, make sure the volume is turned up on the remote to that box as well.
- 1). Unplug the television from its power source for 30 seconds.
- 2). Plug it back in.
- 3). Turn on the power again.
- 1). Adjust the picture size to see if the lines disappear.
- 2). Check to see whether the lines appear when the station is changed to different channels.
- 3). If the television is hooked up to other sources (DVD, Blu-ray, cable, etc.), change the input to see whether the problem persists on all source inputs. If the problem only exists on one input, there is probably an issue with that source.
