Disturbing Trend: The All-Black Cover-Up

I'm seeing more and more people lately - particularly men - with large, and I do mean LARGE, blocks of skin covered in nothing but black ink. I guess this is the new coverup? Why find a skilled cover-up artist who can turn a disaster into a fine piece of art when you can just have someone cover over the offending ink with an even more offensive blob of nothingness?
I don't get it. It's not attractive and if the previous tattoo was really that bad or impossible to cover decoratively, why not have it lasered off?

It's kind of hard to defend body art as.....well, art...when we've got people running around looking like they took a sharpie to their arm that morning because they were bored.

If you don't like your tattoo, get it covered with a better tattoo or, for God's sake, have it removed. Big chunks of shapeless, colorless skin hardly looks better than a botched tattoo. It's just a different kind of botched tattoo.
