How to Modify a Dell Inspiron 6000
- 1). Remove the power cable from your laptop if you had one connected.
- 2). Take the battery out of your laptop.
- 3). Flip the laptop over to prepare it for upgrading.
- 1). Remove the screws on the memory panel in your laptop and lift the panel up.
- 2). Pull out any memory modules you don't want to use anymore while applying some upward pressure to free them.
- 3). Take your new memory module out of its packaging and insert it into one of the slots at a 45-degree angle. Push down and into the slot gently until the memory clicks into the slot.
- 4). Place your panel back on your laptop and tighten the screws.
- 1). Loosen the two screws holding your hard drive to the lateral right edge of your computer. You find these screws somewhere toward the front side.
- 2). Pull out the panel the two screws held to the computer and remove the drive caddy completely.
- 3). Pull the drive out of the caddy and replace it with your new drive.
- 4). Put the caddy back into the computer and push it until it settles inside, then tighten the screws back on it.
