Teen health clubs were created to give teens the opportunity to funnel their energies to fitness and sports, which can help them deal with rising hormone levels, obesity and menstrual concerns, the temptations of drugs and alcohol and stress. Teen health clubs throughout the Houston metropolitan area offer an array of activities focused on health and fitness, helping teens to feel confident about their abilities and teaching them tips they can use throughout their lives. - The Discover Fitness Club offers a kids' fitness program along with Motion Evolution with the goal of helping Houston-area kids and teens to get fit and stay fit. Motion Evolution's goal is to change kids' attitudes toward fitness and help them learn to integrate fitness into an entirely new lifestyle, based on health and fitness. Motion Evolution believes that kids should have fun at the same time. At Discover Fitness Club, teens get to choose the program they want based on their fitness level and schedule. Club members can come to one class or as many as they want per semester. Teen-level classes start with the beginners' Motion Evolution class filled with obstacle courses, games and even a trampoline, with the goal of increasing flexibility, balance, coordination and endurance, all while having fun. Or, teens can opt to take the The Zone, a sports conditioning class for kids up to 18 who are beyond beginner level and want more strength and conditioning exercises. The Jump Rope is another class open to teens up to age 14 that teaches the basics of jumping rope, beginning with simple tricks and working up to more advanced tricks such as the double-dutch. Cardio training is an emphasis in this class. All classes last one hour.

The Space City Futbol Club (SCFC) aims to be the premier full-service soccer club for kids in Houston and Southern Texas, with a focus on individual players by challenging each player at his level. The program trains the players in the "technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of playing soccer" per their mission statement as posted on their website. Teens are eligible for the Junior Academy program, in which they play soccer or "futbol," in a safe and positive environment that is free of pressure from over-enthusiastic parents. The players learn the typical soccer skills, including running, dribbling, crossing and passing. The Academy program is offered for more advanced-level teens and focuses on technical development. Both Academy programs practice for two 75-minute sessions a week, and both programs are coached by professional staff. In addition, Space City Futbol Club players compete in league tournaments. The soccer teams practice and play at Centennial Park, Finkel Fields and League City Sportsplex in Houston.

Teenagers at age 13 can enroll in MAC Kids, a fitness program designed to improve cardiovascular health and tone muscles. The program consists of 45 minutes of supervised low-impact bench and weight training as well as dance and tumbling. Children must be accompanied by an adult; the classes are free to kids on a family membership. The MAC Fitness Instruction for Teens (F.I.T.) is a three-hour session that teaches basic exercise routines as well as weight training. In addition, MAC offers year-round Youth Aqua Fit classes for kids 8 years old and older, including teenagers. Other youth programs include sports-specific programs for the high school and college athlete, which help the youth participants improve power, speed and strength for sports such as volleyball, basketball, tennis and track and field. The teen athletes participate in spinning, running and core work, composed of both outdoor and indoor training sessions.
