    • 1). Put on a pair of rubber gloves to prevent staining your hands with the pigment.

    • 2). Mix 1 cup of powdered dye with 1 quart of water for every 4 to 8 acre-feet of water you need to treat.

    • 3). Pour an equal amount of the dye into four areas around the pond's perimeter. The dye will disperse throughout the water, creating a black tone.
