How to Know if You Have Cellulite

    • 1). Stand in front of a floor-length mirror and inspect the areas of the body that are prone to cellulite, including your stomach, thighs and buttocks. Look for areas of your skin that appear to have a lumpy or dimpled effect on their surface; these are most likely cellulite. The uneven effect is caused by deposits of fatty tissue that have gathered below the surface of your skin.

    • 2). Pinch an area of skin on your outer thigh with your thumb and index finger. Look at the pinched area of skin to see if the surface of the area appears to be uneven or if it looks somewhat similar to orange peel in texture. If you could not see cellulite before you performed the pinch test but you can now, then this is a sign that your cellulite is at a less severe stage. Conduct the pinch test on other areas of your body, including your upper arms, stomach and buttocks. If your skin appears smooth when pinched, then you do not have cellulite.

    • 3). Make changes to your lifestyle to reduce your cellulite. Drink eight glasses of water every day to flush out any toxins that are causing cellulite to form under your skin. Eat a healthy diet that incorporates plenty of fruits, vegetables, fibre, lean meat and oily fish. Avoid putting toxins and unhealthy fats into your body, such as caffeine, alcohol, cigarettes and fried foods. Exercise for 30 minutes at least three times a week by practicing activities, such as cycling, swimming, jogging and yoga, to tone your body and burn excess fat.
