    • 3). Make a paste from baking soda and water and apply to nails. Let sit for 30 minutes to an hour then rinse with warm water. Baking soda has a natural whitening effect and may get rid of yellow fingernails.

    • 4). Try using a whitening toothpaste on your nails. This will have a bleaching effect to get rid of yellow fingernails.

    • 5). After any of the above steps, apply moisturizer on your nails to avoid making them more brittle.

    • 6). To avoid brittle yellow nails in the future, apply a clear nourishing base coat under your nail polish to protect against the nails becoming brittle and yellow.
