LucidChart is a completely free, online utility that helps you to create a flowchart from scratch or by modifying a template. For example, the site offers templates for sales process, support process, or business process. Once you are in the actual program, a handy mouse-over feature gives you a quick description of what each symbol represents. This program is therefore ideal for anyone who has never drawn a flowchart before. Flowchart creation and printing is free, but you'll need to sign up for a free account if you want to save or publish the flow chart online.
- 2). Navigate to Flow Chart's website listed in References. Flow Chart is a real-time collaborative service, meaning that you can dynamically share and edit documents with friends and colleagues. You need to sign up for a free account in order to start using Flow Chart's features, which include making embedded flowcharts where you can freely move flowchart boxes and connectors around. If you are working with other users, you'll be able to see changes they are making to the chart in real time.
- 3). Download an Excel flowchart template from Flow Breeze (see link in References). If you don't want to create flow charts online, the solution may be to use an Excel template. The templates work for all versions of Excel after Excel 2000 and give you a template for a little known feature of Excel: the flowchart tools in the toolbar. The free templates supplement the Excel tools by supplying you with a flowchart grid and various ready-made flowcharts for processes.
