How to Refill an Ink Cartridge for a Brother MFC 240C Printer
- 1). Remove the ink cartridge from the printer.
- 2). Cut the paper label on the cartridge where it meets the joint.
- 3). Flip open the cartridge casing and remove the cartridge.
- 4). Drill through the rubber stopper with a thumb drill. There is a small hole on top of the cartridge that is called the "well." The rubber stopper is inside the well.
- 5). Attach the blunt filling needle to the syringe, then fill it with ink.
- 6). Insert the needle into the hole you drilled in the rubber stopper. Do this very carefully so you do not puncture the cartridge bag.
- 7). Inject 15cc of ink into the cartridge bag by very slowly pushing down on the syringe's plunger. Then remove the needle from the cartridge.
- 8). Plug the stopper using the screw and Allen wrench that came with the refill kit.
- 9). Put the casing back on the cartridge. Use a piece of tape to hold the two sides of casing around the cartridge. Then put the ink cartridge back into the printer.

Print two scrap sheets of paper to get the ink flowing. Print one for black and one for color. See "Resources" below for links to each sample sheet. Alternately, you can run one-to-three cleaning cycles.
