When we are pregnant, our families, friends and physicians suggest that we eat more meals from certain food groups and less from others tell us.
However, after the birth of our child(ren) although it is recommended that we continue to eat well balance meals, particularly if we will be breastfeeding, it is not as strict.
Nevertheless, what we do eat during this time can affect the milk that we supply to our children.
For example, if we breastfeed the baby shortly after drinking a lot of alcohol, some of the alcohol will be transferred to the milk and therefore it will enter the baby's bloodstream.
Therefore, yes, what we eat can affect our little ones and usually, gas and food allergies are two of the reasons why a mother may choose to be a bit picky as to what she eats during her nursing period.
Granted though, what may affect one child may not affect another.
Therefore, the following suggestions are not "cast in stone.
" Therefore, checking to see our young one's reaction after we had eaten these foods, will give us an indication as to if a particular food is affecting him/her.
Mangoes Mangoes are one of the fruits that cause newborns to suffer from gas and the effects of the gas can last for a few hours.
It could be heart wrenching for a Mom to witness her child in agony because of something she had eaten.
Milk If after drinking a glass of milk or eating it with cereal and our bodies react negatively towards it, then it is highly possible that it will affect the baby as well.
Nevertheless, because of its importance to us, we might have continued to drink it.
However, since our little ones may be affected by it, this will be a good time to look for an alternative.
Chocolate Dishes Some of us may not be too happy about this, but chocolate can affect some babies.
If chocolate is just one of the many ingredients in a dish, then it may not create a problem.
However, if it is the main ingredient, then the problem may arise.
This could be ice cream, cake, hot beverages and so on.
Of course, if there are food allergies in the family and although we may not have it, that is, if Dad or perhaps Grandma or Grandpa has it, keeping away from those food that triggers a reaction in them, will also be wise.
Let's not forget that if we are going to make any drastic changes in our diet, we should talk with a dietician first.
