How to Make Adult Cloth Diapers
- 1). Find a disposable diaper that fits well. Select the open type as opposed to the underwear shaped diapers.
- 2). Lay the disposable diaper on your cardboard. Measure 1-inch out from the edge and mark the spot on your cardboard. Repeat this process completely around your disposable diaper until you have drawn its shape on your cardboard 1-inch larger.
- 3). Cut out your cardboard pattern. Be carefully to cut the curves precisely.
- 4). Lay your cardboard pattern on to a piece of flannel. Use a fabric marker to trace and cut out the pattern. Repeat this process for a total of four pieces of flannel.
- 5). Cut two strips of bath towel the length of your flannel but half the width. The towel will act as an absorbent shield for your diaper.
- 6). Place two pieces of flannel face-down on your work space. Center your two strips of bath towel. Cover with two pieces of flannel face-up. Be sure all ends of the materials are aligned.
- 7). Tuck 1/4-inch of the flannel material inside. Do this completely around the project for the top and bottom layers. Pin the tucks in place.
- 8). Sew a seam around the outer edge of your project securing the tucks. Sew a seam directly up the middle of the project to secure the towels in place.
