    • If you have long and choppy hair, you may feel that your hairstyle options are few and far between because of the uneven, jagged cuts and the different lengths of layers. The truth is that even with long and choppy hair the numbers of different hairstyles are countless. Sophisticated up-dos, sleek down styles and partial up styles give you many options for your long and choppy hair.

    Smooth and sleek

    • It's easy to get a smooth and sleek look with long and choppy hair. The blunt and jagged cuts will add texture and volume to your hair. Using a hair straightener or a simple round brush and blow dryer it's simple to smooth out hair. When drying or straightening pull hair downward from the scalp and bring it toward your face. The different lengths will frame your face for a flattering look. For the style itself, your stylist can cut shorter lengths around the face for a framing effect. Choppy bangs can also be an option for longer hair. Try products like hair wax for a more defined look to your layers for a unique look.

    Up-dos

    • For a sophisticated look that will take you from day to night give a new twist to the old French twist. You can leave strands of hair free from the twist or bun and with the different lengths of hair this will leave a dramatic and sexy look. For a more modern and edgy look, bring different lengths up into a classic chignon. Chignon is merely a fancy word for a bun. You can do one chignon or do several. Whatever suits your personality. This can be worn tightly or loosely with strands left loose.

    Partial up-dos

    • There are many options for partial up-dos. You can implement the twists, chignons, barrettes or any other decorative hair piece with these styles. Change the colors of certain lengths of your hair for a more modern look. Use hair wax or glue and spike your shorter layers up or out, which ever appeals to you more and leave the longer lengths sleek and straight down your back. Curls can also be an option for the partial up-dos. Curl sections of your hair while leaving some of the longer layer straight.

    Modern down styles

    • For a modern, chic look try you can choose to make each layer of your hair spike or sweep out in a different direction or maybe even a different color for each layer. Today's hair products set few limits on the things that can be done with any hairstyle or hair type. Many women with shoulder length choppy hair try the retro looks that take us back to the styles of the forties and fifties. Curl each layer with rollers or a very hot curling iron that bring hair up closer to the face. You can choose to brush these curls out for a more relaxed look or gently finger comb curls out for the classic retro look.
