Campground Review and Description:

My wife and I camped here in an A-Frame popup camper. The campground is about two hours from Charlotte, NC. The office and entrance are very attractive. Check in was hassle free. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The only camp supplies offered in campground is firewood. The campground is about .2 miles up dirt road from the office. The campground is small, about 25 sites varying in size. The web page says they can take up to a 35 ' unit. There are sites big enough, but maneuvering around in the campground be might difficult. 20 footers had no problems.

Bath House is dated, but kept very clean. It’s cleaned daily, even on weekends. There is a handicapped stall in each restroom and a handicapped shower stall. They have a washer & dryer at the bath house. No charge for washer, dryer takes quarters. Bring your own washing powder, remember no supplies at the campground (general note: we have started using Tide Pods, they work great and no mess if spilled.)

At the site you're about 6 miles from a store, which happens to be Wal-Mart. It's only 6 miles, but on mountain roads so it takes about 20 minutes, so try to pack in what you need to keep runs to the store at minimum.

There is a lot to do and see in the area.

The campground is very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and beautiful scenery. There are several places to mine for gems, hiking etc. There are limited activities at the campground itself. They offer horseback riding, small fishing pond and a larger one with a swim area. If you plan on coming on a weekend during summer or during leaf season be sure to make reservations. This campground is located in the heart of mica country. The ground is made up of mica dust, which is like black sand. We rate this CG about 8 out of 10. We plan to camp here again.
