When people say "island" everyone automatically thinks of Hawaii or some other exotic island, not even considering Great Britain, which can also be exotic for its inhabitants and for tourists as well. It offers many things to see, both in urban and rural areas. Those who prefer staying in hotels or hostels have a wide choice, and those who prefer hanging out in nature can choose form a variety of sites.

These days, people, and especially kids, prefer modern things, and can't imagine a vacation with no computes, TV or microwave popcorn. This is the perfect reason to take them camping, and to show them that nature is their friend, and that enjoying fresh mountain air will do them good. This is also a great opportunity for a family to spend some time together, to bond and enjoy their vacation. Of course, there are kids' summer camps, which we will discuss later.

Camping isn't like staying in a hotel, and you'll need to do a whole lot more than just make a reservation at a camping site. Safety is the most important, and it will be discussed first. Tent is the vital part of your equipment, it needs to be firm because of wind and waterproof because it often rains in Great Britain, and you don't want your kids, or you, shivering in the middle of the night. The same goes for sleeping bags. You want them thick and comfy. Camping equipment comes with a price, but you'll pay much more if you decide to go cheap on it. Don't even consider making complicated meals, keep it simple. Barbecue, sandwiches and instant soups are quick and simple to prepare.

If you're planning to take your kids on a camping trip, make sure you pick a site where there are fun things for the youngest, don't just take them hiking. If you're into fishing, teaching your kids to do it, it is always a good idea, and you might just provide for dinner. Biking is also a good idea, apart from being a great activity, and very healthy. After biking, your kids will be sound asleep after supper. Geocaching is another activity which will not only exercise your kid's body, but mind as well. It's something like a modern type of treasure hunt, done with the help of GPS.

Like we said earlier, there are summer camps for kids, and kids go there without their parents. Even though it may sound harsh, it is not, as camps are great places for your kid to socialize, truly spend some time outside, and learn a few things. There are sport, science, art, special interest, religious, special needs, adventure, and many more camps in Great Britain, so your kid can have a fulfilled summer.

Camping is a great way to spend your holiday, and sending your kid on a camping trip is also a great idea. All you need to do is to listen to their needs and wishes. If your kids can't stand math, don't send them to a math camp. Summer is there for them to get some rest, and you want you kid to remember the trip with a smile.

Keep in mind that there is almost an unlimited number of camping options in Great Britain, and that whatever your interests may be, you'll probably find a place for you and your family. Don't forget that you need to be well equipped, and that the money you saved by going camping you spend providing a great camping gear for you and your kids.
