Removing Peripherals

• 1). Hold down the "Power" button on your computer to force it to shut down.
  
  
• 2). Remove the peripherals from your computer's universal serial bus (USB) and FireWire ports.
  
  
• 3). Disconnect Ethernet cables.
  
  
• 4). Press the "Power" button to turn the system back on.
  
  

Safe Booting

• 1). Insert the Mac OS X installation disc into your computer's optical drive
  
  
• 2). Shut down your computer through the "Power" button.
  
  
• 3). Start your computer and hold down the "Shift" key.
  
  
• 4). Wait for the system to boot properly.
  
  

Reset the NVRAM/PRAM

• 1). Shutdown your computer.
  
  
• 2). Turn the computer on while holding down the "Command," "Option" "P" and "R" keys.
  
  
• 3). Wait for the computer to restart with the startup sound.
  
  
• 4). Release the keys and wait for the system to start normally.
