How to Make Shepherd's Hook Earrings
- 1). Straighten a 3-inch section of wire with the nylon jaw pliers and cut from the wire roll.
- 2). Grasp one end of the 3-inch section about 3/4-inch up, using the bent chain nose pliers. Make an 80-degree bend in the wire.
- 3). Make a loop in the 3/4-inch segment, using the round nose pliers. Make certain the loop is centered over the long piece of wire. Cut excess wire so you have an open loop.
- 4). Grab the wire immediately above the loop, using the bent chain nose pliers and bend the wire 90 degrees, so the open loop dangles down from the rest of the wire.
- 5). Position two pegs on the jig two inches apart. Place the 5/16-inch peg above and slightly to the left of the small left-hand peg.
- 6). Place the open loop end of the wire over the small peg on the left hand side. Wrap the wire up and around the 5-1/6-inch peg, then bend the wire up against the second small peg on the right, forming a bend in the shaft. Cut to about 1/4 inch in length from the bend.
- 7). Remove any rough spots from the end of the wire and use a small hammer to gently flatten out the rounded part of the shepherd's hook. This helps the hook retain its shape. Attach stones or dangles to the open loop and close the loop using pliers.
