    • 1). Outline the various specifics about the party and the person whose birthday is being celebrated. List the age groups, genders and interests of those attending to help narrow the ideas into your top three choices. The theme for the invitations should match that of the party. If applicable, run the ideas past the guest of honor.

    • 2). Make simple paper invitations bright and colorful to entice the guests to join you in celebration. Invitations made by hand will add a personal touch, while those created with design software on the computer will allow you to add photos and will make mass producing much easier. Consider adding a baby photo of the birthday person to the invitation.

    • 3). Choose some music that correlates to the theme of the party. If it is a child's party and the theme is her favorite cartoon, choose the music from the show. If it is an adult's party, make a mix of upbeat and dance-friendly party songs. Burn the mix onto CD and on the top of the CD, write the party information such as place, date and time in permanent marker.

    • 4). Bake several dozen of your favorite cookies if you can hand deliver invitations. Place four or five cookies in a baggie. Write the party details on a label and tie or stick it to the bag. Tie the bag with a ribbon and distribute to your guests.
