According the figures obtained by Office for National Statistics (ONS), the unemployment rate rose to 8.4% and it is found the highest rate in 16 years. To handle this problem, the government of UK is now tightening the immigration rules. They believe that increase in unemployment rate is due to increase in the numbers of immigrants.

Peter Dixon, an economist at Commerzbank AG in London said that the UK's economy is not growing well and because of falling economy jobs are going to pretty hard to find in coming next 6 months. Unemployment has become one of the main economic and political issues this year and the government must do something about it.

Now in UK full time jobs are really hard to find. So, number of people is moving towards the part time jobs. A record number of people are working part-time as they were unable to find full-time work. But these part time jobs are not adequate for the people to fulfill their requirements.

UK government is now tightening the immigration rules to get hold on unemployment.

For students:

The government has already closed the previous student work visa scheme which allowed 38,000 former students to stay on. The requirements for students entering the country have also been tightened and the government anticipates that by applying these new measures, there should be reduction in net migration of about 60,000 a year.

For migrant workers:

According to the previous rule, Permanent residence depends on the number of years a migrant spend in UK. A migrant have to spend 5 years in UK to get the permanent residence. But now there is a change in the rule. In order to settle down in UK, two conditions are required, these are:
  1.  Migrants will need to show evidence of earning at least 35,000 pounds in annual salary.
  2. Migrants have to spend 5 years in UK.

This new rule will come into effect from April 2016. After spending five years in their jobs, those seeking permanent settlement after April 2016 will need to earn at least 35,000 pounds in their jobs for permanent settlement. It will surely down the rate of granting permanent residence. Those migrants, who will not be able to fulfill this condition, have to leave the country.
