During the spring feed your fish cold fish food then change it to a high protein diet when the water reaches 70 degrees Fahrenheit ( @21 degrees Celsius ).

Plant Fertiliser: Plants provide extra nourishment for the fish and if there is no food around the fish can feed on the plants.
therefore the plants need fertilising.
You should do this at least twice a week.
Also follow the instructions given out when you purchase different plants.

Floating De-icer: This is great for the winter when the pond ices over.
This prevents the water inside the pond from freezing and helps give your fish the appropriate amount of oxygen.
Alternatively you could insulate your pond in the winter with a cover made from thick tarp, straw and plywood.
