- 1). Look out for any signs of illness in your betta. Symptoms of fungal infection are cottony growths on the fish, decaying fins or cloudy eyes.
- 2). Purchase a treatment specific for fungal ailments in freshwater fish.
- 3). Remove carbon media from your filter, which could filter out the treatment before it worked.
- 4). Use the treatment according to the directions.
- 5). Avoid stressing your betta by startling it, turning lights on suddenly or netting it.
