Different Types of Body Fat
You may not know this, but interestingly there is not only one kind of fat in the human body.
There are mainly 2 different types of fats, called the 'visceral fat' and the 'subcutaneous fat'.
Both these fats are different and one has more health ill effects than the other.
Let's take an in-depth look at them- Visceral Fat: This is the fat type that is mostly found around the organs in the abdominal area and this is the reason it is also known as organ or intra-abdominal fat.
An example is people with pot bellies.
This is the type which is unhealthier and has more health concerns related to it.
The reason for this is, since the fat is near vital organs and is more acutely embedded in the tissues, it has more chances of doing higher damage and this leads to all sorts of health risks like heart disease, stroke, hypertension etc.
This type of fat also is known to cause diabetes by boosting the insulin resistance.
Subcutaneous Fat: This is the type of fat that is found under or close to the skin's surface and is predominantly in the thighs and buttocks area.
Subcutaneous fat is not as harming as visceral fat and is also much easier to get rid of.
Remember that smoking and drinking can lead to an increase in the visceral fat and this is really harmful.
Walking is the best exercise that can be performed, and if done regularly it can really help in decreasing the amount of visceral fat in your body and this will make you lead a much better and healthier life.
An important note, some people may choose to get cosmetic surgery done, but this is just as the name sounds, as you will only get the subcutaneous fat removed which will still not reduce the dangerous effects due to presence of visceral fat.
