Diabetes is Not a Death Sentence
With the rising epidemic of diabetes, especially in Western cultures, it is increasingly being seen as an ailment that changes one's life forever and is one of the most adverse diseases one can acquire.
Although nobody discounts the seriousness of diabetes as an illness, it is not necessary that something ominous is bound to happen, now that one has been diagnosed with the ailment.
There is no discounting the fact that diabetes, in its later, more advanced stages causes organ failure - foremost among which is kidney failure.
In extreme cases, diabetics may have to go through a gradual failure of various organs - a truly frightening experience undoubtedly.
To avoid such a fate, diabetics need to make changes to their diet and lifestyle, but these are in no way so drastic that their whole life will change.
Dietary intake in terms of times and sizes of meals need to be regulated, and a conservative approach in selecting food items is needed, this is in no way drastic - healthy individuals should do the same.
Regular exercise needs to be made part of the diabetic individual's lifestyle to help take care of excess sugar levels in the blood that are a common feature of diabetes.
Special food items and herbal treatments can be taken which 'cut' glucose from the bloodstream.
These usually work through stimulating the pancreas to generate insulin, which then works to store the excess sugar from the blood into energy reserves throughout the body (liver and muscles) in the form of glycogen.
Keeping one's blood sugar level low can help in avoiding such a serious health condition.
In spite of the apparently behemoth task of doing this, the actual steps that need to be taken are quite simple.
The challenge, however, is to maintain a healthy level of blood sugar over an extended period of time, to protect one's self from development of high or low blood sugar level ailments.
