Auto motor clubs are organizations that individuals can join for a yearly fee. Members are generally given a membership card and benefits, ranging from roadside assistance to travel discounts. Some insurance companies offer motor club memberships for a separate fee, allowing members the convenience of having their insurance policy and auto club membership through the same company. Auto motor clubs offer peace of mind; their members know that help will be available when they need assistance related to their automobiles. - Formerly known as the American Automobile Association, AAA is one the better-known motor clubs. Officially formed in 1902, AAA was initially started to lobby for driver and passenger rights. The club has more than 50 million members, as of 2010, and has greatly broadened its membership offerings. AAA motor club offers roadside assistance and free towing to the nearest service station, or anywhere else within five miles. Members receive discounts at certain hotels, restaurants, rental car agencies and shops. Access is provided to AAA's travel agency along with its free maps and tour book guides. AAA also offers life insurance as well as insurance coverage for automobiles, homes and condominiums, watercraft and recreational vehicles.

Members have access to roadside assistance and free towing back to the service provider or to any other location up to the benefit limit. The benefit limit for towing ranges from $50 under the Road Security Plan to $250 under the Platinum Elite Plan. Allstate offers rewards for vehicle theft witnesses and hit-and-run witnesses. Car rental and hotel discounts are offered, as well as Allstate's own online booking service that helps members save on flights. Allstate Motor Club is affiliated with Allstate Insurance Agency, which offers insurance coverage for autos, homes, renters, boats, recreational vehicles, motor homes and businesses.

Paragon doesn't include a lot of extra features. Instead, it offers progressive levels of emergency roadside service and expense protection at prices designed for a variety of budgets. Its roadside assistance and road hazard memberships can be purchased for automobiles, motorcycles, RVs and travel trailers. The maximum towing limit is 15 miles on the Classic plan and 100 miles on the Advantage plan. It also offers three different levels of extended auto warranty contracts for cars, trucks and SUVs.

Another advantage is there is no set limit of service calls members can make. GM Motor Club offers emergency expense coverage for members involved in accidents more than 100 miles away from home.
