    Paper Proof

    • 1). Contact the insurance company to receive a paper proof of insurance form if you do not have one already. While many states prefer insurance companies to file these electronically, many states still provide strictly paper copies.

    • 2). Ask the company to mail it directly to you or provide a fax number for yourself or the bank. Even if your state is electronic-only, the insurance company will likely have a document to prove you have insurance.

    • 3). Make a copy of the paperwork if you have it directly mailed or faxed to you. Keep the copy for your records and bring the original documentation to your bank.

    Bank Verification

    • 1). Provide the bank with the contact information for your insurance company. This will allow the bank to contact the insurance company directly and request proof of insurance.

    • 2). Give the exact name of your usual agent, if that information is available. The insurance agent will be able to verify your insurance over the phone and mail or fax a copy of it to your bank.

    • 3). Share the address of your insurance company with the bank if you do not have the phone number available. The bank may be able to request proof of insurance through the mail.

    Proof of Payment

    • 1). Bring in any mail you have received from the auto insurance company. If you have a billing statement, bring it in along with proof of payment. Provide a bank statement, canceled check, cash receipt or money order receipt from your last payment.

    • 2). Verify the receipt includes information concerning the policy or company name on it if you do not have any mail that corresponds with the payment. Provide the company's contact information with the receipt in case additional verification is needed.

    • 3). Make sure you provide the most recent documentation to your bank. Bring at least the last three months proof of payments, if available.

    Online Proof

    • 1). Navigate to your insurance company's website and press "Log in" or "Create an account." Have your insurance policy number available if you are creating an online account.

    • 2). View your policy information once you access your account online. Search for an option to print a proof of insurance or print any documentation that shows details of the policy.

    • 3). Print a copy of the payments you have made toward it if that information is available. This will prove that the insurance is up to date if the other documentation does not show the coverage dates.
