    • 1). Enter the person's name into a major search engine. People place their phone number in ads, on networking sites and other locations.

    • 2). Check out social networking sites for contact information. Search for the person's name and find his friends, colleagues and place of work. You can also use free Internet searches to uncover phone numbers on sites such as Yahoo! People Search, Phonebooks.com and Whitepages.com.

    • 3). Leave messages with friends, relatives, or colleagues (if you know their numbers) and ask for a return call.

    • 4). Call the person at her place of work (if known) and ask for her home phone number.

    • 5). Call major cell phone carriers' directory assistance. For example, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile are all nationwide services. The person may have a listed cell phone number, even if his land line is disconnected.
