The layman would have no reason to have an understanding of these legal intricacies.
The templates that you can buy online are not a viable solution either for a number of reasons, but perhaps the most glaring shortcoming would be the fact that they are not specific to any particular jurisdiction.
The appropriate format for a Nevada will is going to be different from that of a will that is going to be going through probate in Vermont or the Virgin Islands.
The small amount of money that you save by drawing up your own will or filling in the blanks on a generic form that you download from an Internet marketer's website really doesn't justify the risk you are taking.
Your legacy is too important and the stakes are too high to be penny wise and pound foolish when it comes to your will.
