Weight Loss Program"s 3 Deadly Sins
You look in the mirror and realize the weight has crept back on somehow. You didn't intend for this to happen but now that it has, it's time to get serious. In this article I'll share with you my take on weight loss program's 3 deadly sins.
Sin #1: Not counting calories
If you want to successfully lose weight you need to count calories. It's not enjoyable and having to weigh your food can be a chore. But we all logically know that by reducing your calorie intake is what will help you lose weight. You will be overeating before you know it if you aren't aware of how many calories you are eating, which will defeat the purpose of the weight loss program all together.
I will admit that I'm horrible at sticking with a plan like this so I'll share with you exactly what I did. I don't eat horribly to begin with but what I did do is cut back on my portion sizes and became more aware of what I was eating. My goal was to drop 30 pounds in six months and I actually ended up dropping 28 just shy of my goal date. I've kept it off ever since and continue to watch what I eat every single day.
Sin #2: Not incorporating exercise
The way you lose weight in the first place is by burning the calories you have taken in for the day. Proof in point is the television show "The Biggest Loser". Sure, that is a contest to see who can lose the most in the shortest period of time but the message is clear. If you want to lose weight you need to incorporate exercise into your life. Even if you just start by walking 30 minutes a day, you are on the right road. It all starts by getting off the couch.
Sin #3: Not allowing a reward
A reward can really be anything. Some people prefer a shopping spree while others enjoy a much needed massage. Then you have those that would rather eat something they aren't supposed to and that's a good enough reward for them. The point is, don't deprive yourself on any weight loss program. But do give yourself a good couple of months to really shed some pounds before you go and eat something you shouldn't. The lesson here is that by depriving yourself of what you love and enjoy, that's the quickest way of falling off the wagon.
You can't go back to your old eating habits but by eating right during the week and then having something you shouldn't on a weekend is the best way to be able to stay on a strict plan. You may even find that you don't enjoy the foods you use to as much anymore because you know how bad they are for you. You can just make healthier choices when you do go out.
I've been where you are and I've lost the weight more than once. So those are my takes on weight loss program's 3 deadly sins. Stick with what works for you and don't beat yourself up if you slip every once in awhile. Just remember that you are doing this not only to lose that weight but to stay healthy overall.
