    Tool Hammer Parts

    • A tool hammer is a multipurpose tool that contains a number of parts. The parts included on a standard tool hammer run a large gamut, as the term does not describe a specific tool but rather a category of tools that function as hammers and various other tools. Parts of a tool hammer may include pliers, scissors, a screwdriver, a saw, a knife and a file. All of these tools tuck into the handle of the tool hammer so that upon first glance it resembles a simple hammer.

    Tool Hammer Functions

    • A tool hammer serves a similar function to the Swiss army knife, an all-purpose tool with a number of abilities combined in one unit. The primary difference from a Swiss army knife is that the tool hammer itself constitutes a tool, a hammer. The Swiss army knife, on the other hand, constitutes nothing more than a handle with various tools tucked into it. The tool hammer serves functions such as screwing, hammering, cutting, filing, sawing and more. Tool hammers come in handy in a bind as an emergency tool kept in a car or a backpack, but should not be thought of as a viable substitute for a screwdriver or a saw in everyday use.

    Ice Tool Hammer Parts

    • Though the specifics of an ice tool hammer differ based on the manufacturer of the individual item, all tool hammers have the same basic parts. Parts of the ice tool hammer include the shaft, or handle, which differs significantly from a standard hammer handle in that it is very long and curves to increase user grip and weight leverage. The ice hammer tool contains two headpieces, one an elongated spike and the other a short ice pick. Ice tool hammer handles have triggers, grips and a small tail that curls off the end of the handle.

    Ice Tool Hammer Functions

    • The ice tool hammer derives its name from its function -- it is a climbing tool used in the same manner as a hammer. The spike and pick on the head of the ice hammer bores holes in ice into which climbers place mounts and other equipment for holding ropes and marking paths. The tail at the end of the hammer increases climber leverage so that the hammer itself serves as a climbing aid climbers can use to balance their weight against while scaling surfaces. The trigger pops the spike open for action. The underside of the ice tool hammer's spike is serrated so that it cuts as well as bores.
