Alison Krauss and Union Station - So Long So Wrong
From the title track on down the line, So Long So Wrong is decidedly a return to Alison Krauss' bluegrass beginnings. The harmonies are tight as ever, and Union Station's cohesion as a band is really at the forefront on this disc.
In addition to the resigned heartbreak of the title track (she asks, "Did we think forever was really gonna last?" Ouch!), other highlights on So Long include the folkier "Looking in the Eyes of Love" where Krauss' voice is more hushed and introspective that usual.
The banjo-heavy "Blue Trail of Sorrow" is an excellent interval with great interplay between banjo, mandolin and fiddle. And "I Can Let Go Now" is a sweet tune of catharsis at the end of a relationship ("It was so right and yet so wrong almost at the same time").
