How to Remove a Jaccuzzi J-Pump
- 1). Shut off all power going to the hot tub. This means turning power off at the electrical panel and disconnecting all power going to the spa. Make absolutely sure there is no electricity running to the Jacuzzi before removing the pump.
- 2). Close any valves or gates leading to the pump.
- 3). Disconnect the copper wire between the pump and the control system.
- 4). Unscrew the unions leading to the pump. There are two of these at the "wet" end of the pump, one connecting straight to the larger motor and another branching at a 90-degree angle from the pump. Some water will likely drain out once removed.
- 5). Unscrew the pump from the base bracket.
- 6). Loosen the screws on the clamp over the cable connected to the electrical box, on the pump ("non-wet") side of the pump. The clamp serves to waterproof the connection.
- 7). Check the access cover on the pump end. Remove any other connections to that end.
- 8). Detach the cable from the electrical box. If the cable wires remain in good shape, they can be reused on a new pump.
- 9). Unscrew the pump from the base bracket. The pump is now completely disconnected and can be removed.
