How to Start a Newsletter for Children

    • 1). Choose the information to go into the newsletter. This may be events coming up for the kids, goals or accomplishments of the organization or minutes from a recent meeting.

    • 2). Organize the information into sections. There may be a section for recent news, kid-friendly recipes, games and little known facts.

    • 3). Plan the layout of the newsletter. The news section could be sprinkled with little-known facts about people, places and things. The recipe section could have other information listed, such as calories of certain foods or the history of a particular fruit. Assemble it with your desktop publishing program.

    • 4). Limit the size of the newsletter. It is easy to get carried away with all the great ideas that come with creativity. Save some of the cool things for the next issue.

    • 5). Save the newsletter to a compact disc or flash drive. This keeps a record of the newsletter. Storing media in these two formats also allows printing companies to easily print the requested number of copies quickly.

    • 6). Print the newsletter or have it printed by a local company. Distribute the newsletter to local schools, youth programs, or community events. This will let people know about the newsletter and possibly allow the circulation to grow.
