How to Calculate How Much You Are Supposed to Weigh
- 1). Determine your height if you do not know what it is exactly. Stand against the wall and have a friend mark the highest point of your head with a pencil. Use a tape measure to find the distance from this point to the floor. This is your height in feet and inches.
- 2). Assign 100 pounds to the first 5 feet if you are a woman then add 5 pounds for each additional inch. For example, if you are a 5-foot-10-inch tall woman, then your ideal weight is 150 pounds (100 pounds + 50 pounds).
- 3). Assign 106 pounds to the first 5 feet if you are a man then add 6 pounds for each additional inch. Therefore a 6-foot-2-inch tall man should weigh 190 pounds (106 pounds + 84 pounds).
- 4). Enter your height and weight into a body mass index (BMI) tool if you wish to receive a healthy weight range for your height. Various websites provide the tool at no charge, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website.
