How to Remove the Water Saving Feature From a Faucet
- 1). Place a towel over the sink drain to prevent accidentally dropping the small parts of the faucet aerator down the drain.
- 2). Place a cloth around the faucet aerator. The aerator is the portion on the end of your faucet. Grab the faucet aerator over the cloth with a pair of channel lock pliers.
- 3). Turn the faucet aerator counter-clockwise until you can unscrew the aerator by hand. Remove the pliers and cloth and twist the aerator away from the faucet. Place the aerator on a flat surface.
- 4). Pull the rubber washer out of the aerator with your finger tips or a small screwdriver. Lift out the restrictor plate. The restrictor plate is the water saving feature in the aerator. The plate is a disk with a small hole in the center.
- 5). Inspect the remaining parts for sediment buildup and clean if necessary. Place the rubber washer back into the aerator and thread the aerator back onto the faucet in a clockwise direction. Tighten the aerator with the channel lock pliers, using the cloth to protect the finish of the aerator.
