It is 7am on a Monday morning and your alarm goes off.
You reach across and turn it off wishing that you didn't have to get up.
You drag yourself out of bed feeling absolutely shattered.
You are really not looking forward to the day ahead.
In fact if you had your way you could quite easily go back to bed and sleep for a week! Does this ring any bells? Well if you are feeling like this then chances are that there is something causing your tiredness even though you have had a good nights sleep.
In this article I am going to look at extreme tiredness causes and some tips to avoid feeling like death warmed up! Medical problems One of the biggest extreme tiredness causes are medical problems.
Many medical conditions and disorders can bring about the onset of fatigue.
Flu, heart disorders, anaemia and cancer are all said to make you tired.
Hormonal imbalance problems and sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia and restless leg syndrome also bring about fatigue.
Certain medications such as those used for anxiety attacks and depression can also leave you feeling drowsy.
If you think that you are experiencing long bouts of tiredness and fatigue, then it is important to consult your doctor primarily to at least rule these possibilities out! Stress If you are worrying about an issue, then chances are your brain will try to deal with finding a solution to the problem and therefore, is not wholly focussed upon conducting the stages necessary to repair and rejuvenate the body during the sleep process.
So try to go to bed relaxed and stress free.
A lot of people have very stressful lives.
If this is the case then it is imperative that the body is prepared for sleep.
Some good tips are to try meditation or yoga about an hour before bed.
Take a warm bath to relax the muscles, or listen to some gentle music.
If you can do this then your body and mind will be much more relaxed and you will sleep better and wake up feeling refreshed.
Lifestyle This is probably the main cause of constant tiredness and is mainly a modern problem.
This has a lot to do with eating the right foods as a poor diet can inhibit sleep and make you feel fatigued during the day.
Routine is also very important as your body's internal clock known as the "Circadian rhythm" runs best when it is in a routine.
A distinct lack of exercise can also play it's part in making you feel tired.
Studies have shown that if you eat reasonably healthily, exercise regularly and have good sleep routines then you are more likely to feel fighting fit and raring to go than someone who does none of the above
